hi
Hello Winecoff Leopard Families!
Hello Winecoff Family! It's hard to believe that we've already finished a quarter of our school year. Your children are growing and give us so many reasons to smile while working with them each day. We often get asked what's the best way to help as a parent? The best and simplest (hopefully most enjoyable) way to help is to read with your child every day for 20 minutes. You can read to your child to model what good reading sounds like or have them read to you so they can practice. Students who read for 20 minutes daily at home will grow so much more than those who don't. Doing this one thing will help our children of Winecoff reach their goals and be set up for life-long success!

READ-A- THON
Winecoff Elementary has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday October 28, 2024.
About one week before our Read-A-Thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/tGCINR/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Winecoff Elementary

Parent Participation Versus Volunteering Parent Participation
Parent Participation Versus Volunteering
Parent Participation
If you are a parent who wants to participate with your child in school activities that are open to all parents for participation, you are not required to have a background check.
If you have any questions please contact your school’s administrators or your child’s classroom teacher regarding opportunities for parent participation.
 Volunteering
If you are a parent, a family member, or a community person desiring to serve as a school volunteer then you are required to have a background check.
Examples of how school volunteers may be used include field trip chaperones, classroom volunteers, assisting with enrichment opportunities, etc.

  • Volunteers participate in a classroom setting during the school day or outside the school setting as part of an extracurricular activity.
  • Volunteers are utilized in a variety of situations in schools, ranging from one time only to monthly, weekly or daily commitments.
  • Volunteers are placed in all grades, from pre-kindergarten to high school, and in all subject areas.
  • Volunteers play an important role in the success of our schools by providing an extra set of hands, helping increase community support for schools, and giving teachers more time to concentrate on instruction.
